ALL your food and ALL your drinks are included in the price of this holiday -and most “trips” off the vessel too. Its difficult to think what else you can spend your money on!!

Cruise Programme

Sunday Podor - Thiangaye

After visiting Podor Fort we set sail ...chugging down the river to Thiangaye. After lunch onboard we visit the Toucouleurs Villages along the river banks.

Back onboard for an aperitif (and doubtless brief snooze?) its time to head for the river bank at sunset for a traditional lamb barbecue illuminated by hurricane lamps - and perhaps some village children to entertain us with their school choir!

Monday  Thiangaye - Dagana

After our morning sail its another trip ashore by our tender for a traditional “ Tiep bou diet” (Rice with Fish) among the mango and palm trees. Later today we head for Dagana docks visiting the city and stopping at Fort Dagana and its swimming pool.

Tuesday  Dagana - Richard Toll

A two hour stroll round the local area visiting a traditional Paul Village then to visit “La Folie du baron berger” and the huge sugar cane factory and the sugar cane fields.

Wednesday - Djoudj Bird Park

Sailing today we head down river to anchor at the mouth of the Groom river that leads us to the entrance to the massive Djoudj Bird Park. Back in the tender again to the entrance of the Djoudj and then transfer to a smaller vessel for our visit to the Nature park and bird sanctuary. With ‘zillions of birds”  obviously on a huge migratory route from north to south. Bird spotters beware!! - so many species to spot…

Thursday - Diana dam

A relatively modern structure keeping the river levels high behind it - and perhaps watching the local camels vaguely interested in our passing. Sailing back to St Louis in the afternoon whilst being given a horse drawn carriage ride will certainly give you a feel for the locality.. Its the last night onboard as the explorers head down for their final supper and exchange of contact details.

Friday & Saturday - disembarkment and fly home

After breakfast onboard we head back south in our coach and eventual arrival at Dakar airport.
