Join us on our relaxing four day Self-Drive visit to Kent, visiting Dover Castle (English Heritage) , the iconic fortress that sits majestically atop the White Cliffs of Dover and the historic dockyard at Chatham with its three historic warships , a collection of RNLI Lifeboats, and a Victorian Ropery where you can learn the history of nautical rope making. We also include visits to historic Canterbury for sightseeing and shopping, and Charles Dickens’ Rochester.
Itinerary
Day 1, Friday 12th April: Home to Maidstone Kent Arrive at hotel for check in from 1500. Afternoon at leisure—your stay includes full use of the hotel’s leisure facilities. Meet in reception at 1800 for dinner at 1900, included in tour cost
Day 2, Saturday: 13th April—Chatham Historic Dockyard/Rochester Depart hotel and travel to Chatham for visit to Chatham Historic Dockyard for visit. Payment on arrival. Return to hotel via nearby Rochester (optional). Dinner at 1900 Gish
Day 3, Sunday 14th April: Dover Castle & Canterbury Depart hotel and travel to Dover for a morning visit to Dover Castle. Pay on arrival. English Heritage members covered on card. We will spend the afternoon in Canterbury , a beautiful, medieval city with lots to explore including its historic cathedral. Discover the city in your own time, making sure to be back at the hotel for dinner Return to hotel in time for dinner at 1900.
Day 4, Monday: 15th April— Home Breakfast at leisure. Check out of hotel by 1200. Travel home
